Chris Gray is located in coastal Blue Hill, Maine, we are a small, two-person shop specializing in custom design and construction. Having been trained in traditional Furniture and cabinetry at the North Bennett Street School in Boston, our artisans are driven by attention to detail and quality of construction. Potential pieces range from Queen Ann to contemporary. Not limiting our work to any given genre lets us exercise our craft and stay excited about current projects. Working closely with you on your design allows us to create from your ideas. We build individual works: beautiful pieces to be passed down for generations.
Most of the Furniture we design and build is commissioned for private clients. This process starts with a discussion between the designer and the client about the general design and function of the piece. From there, we produce sketches and a brief written description of the piece as well as a rough idea of the cost. With your feedback, the description is refined until we?re comfortable with the design. At this point, you receive a bill for our design time. Upon agreement to commission the piece, we will provide a contract for your approval. After receiving a down payment, construction can begin.
