Overall, the BSR operates on 4 km of track, commencing at Port Douglas Marina Mirage station. The station is the old cane cutters barracks from the Mossman Mill. The Marina Mirage complex itself is boutique shopping precinct with broadwalks overlooking the yacht marina and outer reef tour operators base.
The Bally Hooley Steam Railway is now run by a group of volunteers interested in preserving this historic asset for the benefit of the Port Douglas and District Community and to gain enjoyment from operating the trains and interacting with our passengers. The main goal the of group is to be fully financially and technically self sufficient, while providing a reliable tourist attraction in Port Douglas. To do this we need interested volunteers who can provide a wide range of skills, both technical and administrative, to help achieve our aims.
