Arnos Vale Waterwheel Restaurant

Arnos Vale Waterwheel Restaurant in Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidad and Tobago, Trinidad And Tobago | Restaurant

The Arnos Vale Sugar Factory represents one of the best
preserved examples of eighteenth and nineteenth century
production technology in Tobago.
A warehouse where sugar, molasses and rum were stored
prior to export exist at the Arnos Vale Bay. In addition to
the sugar factory, several archaeological sites have been
identified on Arnos Vale Estate.
All the buildings are constructed entirely from natural materials
and are connected by covered wooden walkways thus
allowing maximum view of the ruins without disturbing nature.
"The small buildings look as if they have been there for
years, not a tree has been cut down. In fact, there are holes in the roofs to accommodate branches" (Tobago Today)
Although the Restaurant was constructed adjacent to the remains of the sugar factory, every effort was made to minimize the impact on this heritage site; preserving it for future generations to enjoy.
This is the first of such attempts on the island to meet the needs of development, education and the conservation of Tobago's cultural heritage.
