The current ruling family, the Grimaldis, secured control in the late 13th century and soon Monaco became the second-smallest independent state in the world (after the Vatican). Monaco, and its capital Monte Carlo, is a symbol of glamour. The Casino is at the heart of the action - Mon?gasques do not pay taxes as nearly all their country's revenue comes from tourism and gambling! The principality's mediterranean climate, prime location and glamorous facilities have made Monaco world famous as a recreation destination.This is Monaco.
