United Kingdom
The United Kingdom of Great Britain includes England, Scotland, and Wales and Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom (or UK) lies only 35 kilometres away from the European mainland and is linked to France by a tunnel under the English Channel. The countryside features level to rolling plains in east and southeast and rugged hills and low mountains to the west and north. Apart from the natural attractions, the UK has a plethora of old castles and ruins from its varied history. There are also many great cities, especially London. The United Kingdom is also well known around the world for their royal family. Dating back over ten centuries, the Monarchy plays an important role in the UK and Commonwealth.
