Yacht clubs were historically very exclusive places, as members had to be yacht owners. Yacht clubs have opened their doors more widely now, so more of us can enjoy them.

Yacht club membership may still be restricted to boat owners, but these now include owners of small boats like dinghies. Yacht clubs often now offer open sailing lessons.

    The Saldanha Bay Yacht Club is located in a sheltered area of Smitswinkelbaai and offers berthing on both moorings and jetties. On a social level enjoy the bar at the club or a braai, there is always something happening at the Saldanha Bay Yacht Club. Cruises include visits to amongst others, Dassen Island, Kraalbaai and Paternoster. The club also offer a racing program.
