The Romanian Peasant Museum in Bucharest, Romania, is a typical heritage museum with a rich and extensive collection of Romanian peasant objects, with the oldest piece dating back to 1746. This national heritage museum is part of the Ministry of Culture's patronage, and our unique collection of nearly 90 000 pieces gives visitors an interesting, informative insight and understanding of the peasant world of years gone by. The ceramics collection housed at The Romanian Peasant Museum contains about 18 000 pieces dating back to 1746, and the costume collection of 20 000 pieces of costume have been sourced from Romanian provinces and date back to the early 19th century. Many other collections at our heritage museum date back to the 19th century, and all items help us to understand the hardships of peasant life in a bygone era.
