Strapps Heritage House in Conception Bay South, Avalon Peninsula, Canada | Bed and Breakfast

Welcome to Strapps Heritage House, Bed and Breakfast, Conception Bay South, Canada. Overlooking the Ocean, Strapps Heritage House is located in the picturesque community of Harbour Main, Newfoundland, and is centrally located on the Avalon Peninsula.
The house was built in the early 1900's by Thomas Strapp as a family home. He and his wife Mary Anne raised their 7 children in the house. It was here on this site that many events of the 1861 riot took place. The land is awash with family history. First settled around 1825 by Patrick Strapp from Fethard, County Tipperary, Ireland, the property has remained in the Strapp name ever since (owner's grandchildren are 7th generation).
The Strapps Heritage House, Conception Bay South has been lovingly restored by Thomas's grandsons and turned into a Bed and Breakfast accommodation and craft store. Particular attention has been paid to small details that guests will delight in.
Left intact is a "shop" where Thomas sold many provisions ranging from canvas for the floor, rope for the nets, loose tea and barrel apples for the winter and all things in between. Today at the shop now called "Pad's Place" you can purchase gifts and treasures created by local artisans.
While visiting Harbour Main on your vacation, be sure to allow some time to take a leisurely walk along the ocean's edge or relax on our covered verandah. Travel across the road to Lukey's Chapel Beach and take some time to examine the odds and ends that the ocean deposits each day. You never know what you'll find.
The ocean view is spectacular. Enjoy it's sights, sounds and smells. You may even see some whales frolicking in the Harbour, some caplin rolling on the beach or a family of ducks sunning themselves. Rest awhile on our beach bench and be sure to bring your camera.
