Welcome to The Jenkins Elementary School, Scituate, United States. The Jenkins Elementary School opened for the 2003-04 School year. This put the School in the unique position of not having a School Improvement Plan with goals in place to work on during the School year. This is not to say that we did not have a School Council or did not work towards goals.
The Jenkins School Council first met unofficially to start organizing in the spring and summer of 2003. We had not yet held elections and the group at the time was composed of volunteer parents and teachers who had served on School Councils at their previous Schools. Our initial meetings revolved around helping Mr. Grassie to organize a safe opening of the new School. The council reviewed the safety plans Mr. Grassie had made while working with a variety of town departments and found those plans to be well under way. We did point out that all students would be riding new bus routes, most with new bus numbers and that the youngest students often arrived for the first day of School not knowing their bus numbers. Council members worked to print up sticky name labels printed with bus numbers rather than names. Parents organized to meet the buses on the first day, climbed aboard and reminded the older students of their new bus numbers, then put labels on the younger students and assisted them to their new classrooms. The system worked beautifully and was continued on the opening of our second year.
by working with the parents and community, the staff of Jenkins School is committed to the successful development of the whole child.
At Jenkins Elementary School, Scituate, we take action to provide a safe and caring environment for all children.
