There is a variety of wildlife, with buzzards, owls, foxes, badgers and deer to be seen whilst walking and cycling along our quiet lanes. For cyclists in particular we border the 'Westcountry Way' - the National Cycle Route 3, and the Ruby Country Cycle Trail.

A choice of fishing lakes and an 18-hole golf course are also available nearby.

The market town of Holsworthy, some 2.5 miles to the north, boasts a variety of shops, a supermarket, pubs and takeaways to cater for your every need. Every Wednesday The Square is closed to traffic for the Pannier and Farmers Market.

We welcome our senior visitors - there is lots to do in the area! However, you may just wish to chill out on site and relax with a book from our 'library' and glass of wine, appreciating the magnificent views across the Devon and Cornwall countryside. If you look carefully you may be lucky to see deer, badgers, foxes, barn owls on the hunt and many other birds and animals.

Should you wish to be a bit more energetic there are the lovely quiet lanes to walk. You will see the beautiful 'Devon hedgerows' that are full of a variety of native plants all intertwined.

Further afield there are many National Trust properties and gardens to visit. If you enjoy the moors, Dartmoor and Exmoor are within easy reach as are the many attractions in Cornwall, particularly the stunning north Cornwall coastline.

Every Wednesday morning there is a pannier/Farmers market in the middle of Holsworthy Square which is closed off to traffic. At the same time the Livestock market is in full swing - just don't itch your nose or you might be taking home a very unusual pet!!!

WELL BEHAVED DOGS ARE WELCOME!
We are a very dog friendly site. We have a collie of our own - Joey - who loves to meet and greet all our four legged guests!

We ask that dogs are kept on a lead on site at all times and if they foul the site then their owners clean up. There are plenty of places to walk your dog on or off lead. The lanes around the site are very quiet, or should you wish to exercise your dog off the lead we will always have available a field where you can let you dog off the lead for a jolly good run. Further afield, there are beaches, coastal walks and local forestry walks available.

The current information about dog-friendly beaches is as follows:

All year dog friendly beaches include:
Summerleaze, Widemouth Bay (South Beach only), Northcott, Sandymouth.

Beaches on which dog bans apply from Easter Day to 1st October include:
Crooklets Beach, Widemouth Bay (North Beach only), Crackington Haven.

T here are two local vets - just in case. If you wanted a day out, perhaps to visit a place that doesn't allow dogs, there is a local boarding kennel should you wish to board you dog overnight. Our visitors say they are very reasonably priced and take very good care of yo
