Driftwood

Driftwood in Mousehole, Cornwall, United Kingdom | Self Catering

Welcome to Driftwood, Mousehole, United Kingdom. Driftwood is Self Catering and is positioned in one of the most photographed streets in Mousehole and is situated only steps from the harbour front. Its original purpose was connected with the fishing fleet that operated from the once bustling harbour. Driftwood is built of Granite and the ground floor once had wide openings, giving access for salting and packing fish with net lofts over.

Mousehole was described by Dylan Thomas as one of the loveliest villages in Cornwall and it remains largely unspoiled today with comparatively little development. Narrow streets and cobbled alleys wind down between pretty granite and slate cottages to the harbour where in winter, baulks of timber close off the entrance to provide protection from the open sea. Nestled inside the breakwaters there is a small beach providing a safe and sandy beach for small children.

Situated in the heart of the exquisite village of Mousehole (with its harbour, sandy beach, art galleries and cafes), this former net loft, Driftwood, stands as one of a row. Built in 1851, it has been refurbished and retains many character features. Set only yards from the sea, visitors can explore the winding streets and coastal paths, and in winter enjoy the Mousehole Christmas illuminations. Alternatively, Penzance and the Minack Theatre - an open air theatre hewn into the cliff - or Sennen (famous for surfing and its wide sandy beach) make for enjoyable days out.

Come Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter, this Self Catering House named Driftwood, Mousehole, is the place to be.
