Cafe Boulud

Cafe Boulud in , , | A la Carte Restaurants

For more than 100 years, the residents of Saint-Pierre de Chandieu,  Daniel's hometown outside Lyon, met daily at Cafe Boulud, the small café and not-quite restaurant that Daniel's great-grandparents, grandparents and later his parents took pride in tending on their family farm.  It was the rendezvous point for generations of townsfolk.  It was the place people went to begin and finish a day, to toast births and marriages and to mourn losses.  It was where love affairs started and, of course, where some ended. It was warm, welcoming and a vital part of village life.
Paris 1930 came to Manhattan  New York's Upper East Side in September 1998 when celebrated Chef Daniel Boulud opened Cafe Boulud, a warm and welcoming French-American venue for Manhattan's cafe society.  The restaurant offers a menu and ambiance combining the best of French food and design in a casually elegant style. Named for the local cafe Daniel Boulud's family ran on their farm outside Lyon, France at the turn of the century,  Cafe Boulud reflects the same spirit of conviviality that made the original spot a regular village meeting place. Cafe Boulud is situated between Museum Mile and the fine art galleries and elegant boutiques of Madison Avenue, adjacent to the Surrey Hotel in New York.
