The Birdcage

The Birdcage in Thame, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom | Pub | Restaurant | Restaurant and Pub

The Birdcage is the oldest inn in Thame, UK built around the 1300's, located right in the town centre, and has retained it's structural character. Enjoy the restored elm beams for a historical atmosphere, and here visitors are treated to a fines selection of New World Wines and excellent reals ales coupled with an excellent menu of homemade meals including steaks, burgers, seafood and bar snacks. Thame's oldest Public house stocks over 100 plus craft and specialty beers, and there's live music every Friday and Saturday, plus it's the perfect venue to watch the rugby. The Birdcage once housed French prisoners during the Napoleonic wars, and was a holding house for petty thieves and criminals, and it is said some of these troubled souls still haunt the place, come see and feel for yourself.
