Come and enjoy the surfside activities of picnicking, swimming, beachcombing and surfing along the miles of unspoiled beaches. Head to the harbor for the fun of boating and fishing, windsurfing and square dancing at the pier. Make a day of golfing, tennis, biking, trai hiking or bird watching. Browse and shop the excellent art and antique galleries, bookshops, gift and clothing boutiques. Enjoy a movie or stage production. Savor the local offerings at the many fun and fine restaurants about town. Catch a sunrise at the ocean and sunset at the bay in the same day! This friendly artists' and fishing village welcomes visitors throughout the year to enjoy the flavors of each season. Autumn, the most beautiful season, is becoming a favorite for visits to Wellfleet. The Outer Cape offers fabulous autumn fishing, and it is still warm enough for beach picnics, bike riding, bird watching, whale watches, seal and wildlife sightings. Wellfleet offers a variety of ocean, bay and freshwater pond beaches.

On the ocean side are Newcomb Hollow, Cahoon Hollow, White Crest Beach, and Maguires Landing. The cool surf and long stretches of smooth sand make them the favorites for body surfing, sunbathing and picnicking. Surfboards and hang gliders are restricted to White Crest Beach, and hang gliders are allowed only before 9 AM and after 5 PM. Parking along Ocean View Drive is prohibited and subject to fine and towing, even with a beach parking permit. The warmer and calmer salt water of the bay invites swimmers and shell collectors. The Town maintains parking areas at Indian Neck, Mayo Beach, Powers Landing and Duck Harbor. Windsurfing is only allowed at Burton Baker Beach, at Indian Neck, and only during certain hours of each tide, so windsurfers should obtain a copy of the regulations at the Beach Sticker Booth on the Town Pier.
