Traytown is a town in northeastern Newfoundland. Formerly known as Troy Town. A geologist by the name of J.B Jukes engaged in some speculation as to where the name came from. The only information he came up with was that there was a village near Dorchester called Troy Town. The town had a famous maze cut into the turf and the name became a west-country expression meaning a scene of disorder or confusion.
