Aberdeen is Scotland's third most populous city and one of Scotland's 32 local government council areas. It has an official population estimate of 202,370. Nicknames include the Granite City and the Silver City with the Golden Sands.

Bruichladdich Distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery on the Rhinns of the isle of Islay. It is one of eight distilleries on the island, and until the recent opening of Kilchoman the only independent one.

Burray is one of the Orkney Islands in Scotland. It lies to the east of Scapa Flow and is one of the chain of islands which are linked by the causesways called the Churchill Barriers.

Campbeltown is a town and former royal burgh in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, located by Campbeltown Loch on the Kintyre peninsula. Originally known as Kinlochkilkerran - this form is still used in Gaelic. It was renamed in the 17th century and became an important centre for shipbuilding and Scotch whisky, and a busy fishing port.

Coldingham Bay is an inlet in the North Sea coast, just over three km north of the town of Eyemouth in the Scottish Borders. It is situated at grid reference NT918666 and is easily reached by a minor road which leaves the B6438 road at Coldingham.

Craigleith is a small island in the Firth of Forth off North Berwick in East Lothian, Scotland. Its name comes from the Scottish Gaelic Creag Lìte meaning "rock of Leith". It is 24 m at its highest point.

Crail is built around a harbour, and has a particular wealth of vernacular buildings from the 17th to early 19th centuries, many restored by the National Trust for Scotland. The Crail Golfing Society is the seventh oldest in the world. Their oldest course, Balcomie, was formally laid out by Tom Morris Sr. in 1894, but competitions had been played there since the 1850s.

Craobh Haven is a small purpose-built village and sailing port on the west coast of Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is situated on the Craignish peninsula.

Drymen is a village in Stirling district in central Scotland. Drymen lies to the west of the Campsie Fells and enjoys views to Dumgoyne on the east and to Loch Lomond on the west. The Queen Elizabeth Forest reaches down to the village edge, and the whole area is part of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park (the first National Park in Scotland).

The Isle of May, situated in the mouth of the Firth of Forth, is only one and a half kilometres long, yet is a haven for thousands of nesting sea birds and breeding seals who flourish on the steep sea cliffs and rocky shores. It has been a National Nature Reserve since 1965.

Loch Duich is a sea loch situated on the western coast of Scotland, in the Highlands.

Loch Kishorn is a sea loch in the north-west Highlands of Scotland, separating the Applecross peninsula from the Lochcarron area. It is about 1.5 km wide, and 4 km long. There is a cluster of small islands at the mouth of the loch, the largest of which is Kishorn Island.

Loch Lomond, is a freshwater Scottish loch, lying on the Highland Boundary Fault. It is the largest loch/lake in Great Britain, by surface area, and contains many islands, including Inchmurrin, the largest fresh water island in the British Isles. It is a popular leisure destination and is featured in song.

Loch Ness is undeniably one of the most famous lakes in the world. It is also, certainly, a place of outstanding natural beauty, but it has to be admitted that the world wide fame of Loch Ness owes more to the legend of its famous occupant, the Loch Ness Monster - or 'Nessie' - than the breathtaking location of the loch itself.

Lochcarron is a village in Wester Ross, Highland, Scotland.

Lunna Ness is an eight mile long, narrow finger of land that projects, almost accusingly, from Shetland's Mainland towards Yell and Fetlar. In a modern Shetland with its superb road network, Lunna Ness is about as remote a place as you will find in Shetland without catching a boat. And geography very nearly dictated that you had to.

Mallaig is a port in Lochaber, on the west coast of the Highlands of Scotland.

Montrose is a Scottish coastal resort town and former royal burgh in Angus. It is the northernmost coastal town in Angus and developed at a natural harbour that traded in skins, hides and cured salmon in medieval times.

Morar is a small village on the west coast of Scotland, 3 miles (4.8 km) south of Mallaig. The name Morar is also applied to the wider district around the village.

Nairn has been a spa holiday town for well over a hundred years with beautiful beaches and even its own "micro-climate", said to be even sunnier and warmer than places just a few miles away, such as Inverness; visit Nairn's harbour and view its yachts or take a boat trip offshore to see the only place in Scotland with a resident dolphin population.

New Deer lies in the valley of Deer in Aberdeenshire, North East Scotland, and was originally founded after monks from Deer Abbey, Old Deer built a chapel at Auchreddie (which translates as "field of the bog myrtle").

Nigg Bay is an extensive area of mudflat, saltmarsh and wet grassland on the Cromarty Firth. A small sandy beach of Abereen City Council area. Nigg Bay lies between the headlands of Girdle Ness and Greg Ness.

The Royal Burgh of North Berwick is a seaside town in East Lothian, Scotland. It is situated on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, approximately 25 miles east of Edinburgh. North Berwick became a fashionable holiday resort in the 19th century because of its two sandy bays, the East (or Milsey) Bay and the West Bay, and continues to attract holiday makers to this day. Golf courses at the ends of each bay are open to visitors.

Portobello is a beach resort located three miles (5 km) to the east of the city centre of Edinburgh, along the coast of the Firth of Forth, in Scotland. Stranraer is a town in the south of Scotland in the west of the region of Dumfries and Galloway and in the county of Wigtownshire.

Strathpeffer is situated in the heart of the Highlands, to the west of The Cromarty Firth and the Black Isle. Stromness is the second-largest town in the Orkney Islands, Scotland, and is located in the south-west of the mainland of Orkney. It is also a parish, with the town of Stromness as its capital. The name Stromness is derived from the Viking language. Strom refers to the strong tides that rip past the Point of Ness to the south of the town, literally 'strong tide point'. In Viking times Stromness was called Hamnavoe, meaning 'peaceful or safe harbour'.

Sumburgh Head is located at the southern tip of the Shetland Mainland in northern Scotland. The head is a 100 m high rocky spur capped by the Sumburgh Head Lighthouse. The Old Norse name was Dunrøstar høfdi, it means "The Head onto the Thunderous Noise", referring to the noise of Sumburgh Roost. The cliffs are home to large numbers of seabirds and the area is an RSPB nature reserve.

Tarbert is the main community on Harris in the Western Isles of Scotland. It is also a car ferry terminal to Uig on Skye. Its name means "isthmus".

Tobermory is a beautiful small seaside town, the capital of The Isle of Mull, its colourful houses appear in many photographs. The perfect island for whale watching, eagle watching white sand beaches and a peaceful tranquil holiday.

Tongue is in the heart of the Mackay country and is situated on the North Coast of the beautiful Scottish Highlands; midway between Cape Wrath and John O'Groats, and also between the challenging golf links at Durness and Reay. Bird and wildlife watchers are also well catered for and need not travel far from Rhian to enjoy their hobby. Red, roe and muntjac deer, otters and pine-martens have also been spotted nearby. Torridon is a small village in the Northwest Highlands of Scotland. However the name is also applied to the area surrounding the village, particularly the Torridon Hills, mountains to the north of Glen Torridon.

Ullapool is a small town of around 1,300 inhabitants in Ross and Cromarty, Highland, Scotland. Despite its small size, it is the largest settlement for many miles around, and is a major tourist destination of Scotland.

Westray is one of the Orkney Islands in Scotland, with a population of around 550 people. Its main village is Pierowall, with a heritage centre, the ruined Lady Kirk and ferries to Papa Westray.

Whitehills is a small fishing village in Aberdeenshire, Scotland that lies a few miles northwest of Banff.
