As a civil parish it covers the villages of Denby Dale, Lower Denby, Upper Denby, Upper Cumberworth, Lower Cumberworth, Skelmanthorpe, Emley, Emley Moor. This parish had a population of 14,982 according to the 2001 census. The parish council gives the electorate of the village itself as 2,143.
