With a history going back to the 13th century, ‘Hunnebo' is one of the oldest coastal villages. It developed during the herring period from 1556 to 1589 and originally was probably of seasonal character . With the coming of the stone industry in the 1860's the population increased considerably, and the stone quarries echoed with the sound of hammers for many years. Very few stonemasons remain, but at the Stonemason's Museum in Hunnebostrand you can see how the stonecutters once had to work.

Hunnebostrand is also a well-loved holiday resort with a fine guest harbour, good beaches, and a great street life in the summer. You will find several restaurants with a wide range of fare.

The harbour in Hunnebostrand has become increasingly popular, and the annual event Sotekanalen Day attracts crowds of people.
