Ritthem is a small village, at the river mouth of the Schelde, pertaining to Vlissingen.
Close to the Ritthem woods with the 16th century fortress "Rammekens". The Rammekens creek, dike and sea are within walking and cycling distance. Several cycling tours, many cycle tracks alongside the entire coastline of Walcheren. With the Westerschelde tunnel nearby it is easy to go to the Belgian coast or to visit Zeeuws Vlaanderen.

And not to forget are the beautiful Walcheren beaches. E.g. Vlissingen with beach promenade and beach. Or the Ritthem beach at 1,5 km. Domburg at 20km. Veere, with its numerous monuments is certainly worth a visit. The Veerse Meer (= a lake) is attractive as well, excellent for watersports, walking and cycling. Cycling tracks alongside the lake, passing the most beautiful places.

Ritthem is like the majority of the villages of Walcheren a Kerkdorp ; the church dates from the 14th century with a nave of the 16th century. Near Ritthem, one finds old the Fort Rammekens as well as a natural reserve.
