Tramore is the South East's leading holiday resort, with a complete range of facilities for the holidaymaker, from top class accommodation in Hotels, Guest Houses, and self catering, to leisure activities such as surfing, hiking, horse riding and golf. Every possible leisure activity is catered for in the Town itself, or in the surrounding areas. Outdoor activities and sports of every type, indoor activities including theatre, cinema, and 10 pin bowling, a wide variety of quality restaurants, and not forgetting the region's two top visitor attractions, the amazing Waterford Crystal Visitor's Centre and factory tour, and the multimedia history of Waterford at the Granary building on the Quay.

The town is situated on the north-western corner of Tramore Bay on a hill that slopes down to the strand, or sand spit, that divides the bay. Behind the spit lies the tidal lagoon known as the Cúl Trá (Back Strand). Tramore has an imposing Gothic Revival Catholic Church (which is dominated by an asymmetrical tower and spire), on a monumental site overlooking the town, built 1856-1871 by J. J. McCarthy. Among the noblemen to have made Tramore their home through the centuries are James 1st, Brian Ború.
