On both sides of the Morsum is the National Park Wadden Sea of Schleswig-Holstein. At the start of Morsum Hindenburgdamm the island of Sylt is connected to the mainland.

The cliff-Morsum is located at the Watts side of the island, and has been protected since 1923. Many Ice Age glaciers have been here on earth, including Glimmerton, Limonitsandstein and Kaolinsand compressed in confined spaces. The cliff is rich in fossils.

Morsum has its own elementary, secondary schools are located in Westerland.
