Titisee is a part of Titisee-Neustadt. The latter has about 12 000 inhabitants, 250 of which live in Titisee. It can be subdivided into 4 parts, namely 4 valleys: Altenweg, Spriegelsbach, Schildwende and Jostal. There are about 1600 inhabitants in Altenweg, about 1000 people live in the centre of Titisee. Titisee is world-famous, on special days, there can be up to 20 000 tourists visiting the town. The main economic sources of Titisee are tourism and agriculture. Thanks to its increasing sense of quality Titisee as a model town works together with the land of Baden-Wuerttemberg on a pathbreaking concept. The local attraction, the mountain Hochfirst is about 1192m high with its lookout tower as the popular attraction for hikers. You look for recreation, souvenirs, cuckoo clocks, Black Forest Bacon, or the famous Black Forest cherry cake? You want luxury but you do not want to miss the vivacity of an international health resort? The lake is located on a height of about 850 m and is one of the biggest Mittelgebirgssee in the middle of Germany. It is about 130 hectare wide and 45 m deep. Leaving the lake on the sluice-gate, the water flows into the Gutach. Near Neustadt the lake changes its name into Wutach and passes through the world-famous prehistoric Wutach gorge and it finally arrives in the Rhine. Titisee is a legally protected nature reserve. Motorboats are not allowed on the drinking water lake.

As the most important drinking water reservoir it has numerous kinds of fish. Pikes of about 1,2m length have already been caught here. The minimum of houses near the bank and the incomparable view of the Feldberg mountain turn the Titisee into one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. It's not without reason that yearly millions of Tourists visit the lake and it has still preserved its incomparable charm. Titisee Hotels There are numerous hotels, boarding houses and apartments in Titisee. Especially the Parkhotel Waldeck **** is closely related with the landscape of the Black Forest. The house is decorated in a typically Black Forest style with wooden ornaments conveying the genuine atmosphere of the region.
