Through the use of extensive artifacts Vancouver Maritime Museum brings stories to life, and visitors realise that they are never too old to learn. Many artifacts and exhibits are irreplaceable, and it is our goal to preserve the artifacts which the museum has been entrusted with, for future generations. We also believe it is important to preserve the stories that link the artifacts to real people.

The Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives in Gibsons Landing, British Columbia, consists of two floors of exhibits with a reference library and resource room. The museum also has extensive archives containing well over 9000 documents and photos. The Sunshine Coast has a vibrant and diverse history, and it is the museum’s goal to preserve, promote and present this history to the public by way of interesting exhibits, and educational programs, as well as by providing a resource centre and extensive archives. The Sunshine Coast Museum and Archives consists of 2 floors and is wheelchair friendly. Exhibits at the museum include details of the area's maritime history, the Farrell Story, the Hubert Evans Handliner, Union Steamships, Captain Vancouver, and the Don Hauka submersible.

Maritime Industry Museum at Fort Schuyler in the Bronx is a perfect example of people becoming volunteers because they are doing what they love,. The museum is totally reliant on donations, another labour of love. The Maritime Industry Museum was established in 1986, and is housed on the campus of the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College in historic Fort Schuyler, The Bronx. Maritime Industry Museum has received many donated objects and artifacts from steamship lines, related companies in the maritime industry, and merchant marine history buffs. A stroll through the museum is like taking a stroll through time. Maritime Industry Museum has one of the largest collections of maritime industry materials in the nation and all exhibits are displayed in chronological order.

The Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston was founded in 1980, with the mandate to collect preserve, research and exhibit a collection of historical artifacts which are relevant to the preservation of the maritime heritage of the Hudson River . The Hudson River Maritime Museum has an impressive collection of artifacts which include archival material and art related to river transportation, industries and recreation. There are also paintings, prints, photographs, ephemera, blueprints, artifacts, ship models, a 100-year old shad boat, a life boat, lighthouse tender and ice yachts, all of which visitors are sure to find very interesting. The Long Island Maritime Museum in West Sayville, Long Island is dedicated to preserving the maritime history and heritage of Long Island and has been welcoming visitors to the museum for over 40 years. Visitors are encouraged to board the restored 1888 Oyster Sloop Priscilla, a vessel considered to be a National Historic Landmark, for a sail around the bay. The Long Island Maritime Museum is dedicated to researching and preserving the rich nautical heritage and the role played by Long Island in the national maritime story. Housed in a former 1920 grain elevator complex which was partially demolished in 1998, except for a two story section which was generously donated to the museum, H. Lee White Marine Museum is now a fully functional maritime history museum. Exhibits include the original lens from the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse, detailed ship models and dugout canoes, to name just a few. Learn about Oswego’s rich fishing history, take a walk through a captain’s cabin dating back to the 18th century or board the WWII Historic Landmark Tug. A trip to H. Lee White Marine Museum is not complete without a visit to Treasure Chest, the well stocked gift shop.

The maritime heritage of the East End of Long Island, New York, is an integral part of the city, and therefore the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation in Greenport has made it its mission to preserve and restore this very heritage. At our summer sessions we show maritime films, arrange marine-based lectures and celebrate our maritime culture. We have a resident blacksmith who gives demonstrations of iron working, and children get the opportunity of having a hands-on experience. The East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation is proud to own and operate the historic Long Beach Bar (Bug) Lighthouse. Displays inside the lighthouse include displays on the Greenport menhaden fishing industry, the oyster industry, lighthouse lenses, as well as a model ship of the USS Ohio. A visit to the East End Seaport Museum and Marine Foundation and the Long Beach Bar Lighthouse is well worth a visit.

Island Adventure Centre Wildlife Tours in Heriot Bay on Quadra Island, British Columbia offers you the ultimate grizzly bear adventure as you get up close to these magnificent animals. The tour is six hours long, beginning with a boat trip through the awesome Discovery Islands until you reach Bute Inlet, and then on upland in a van along the Orford River to the specially designed bear viewing platforms.
