The Young Troupe of Strauss Theatre Center has education as its main mission. The Young Troupe of Strauss Theatre strive to educate not only the young people directly involved with the Theatre through acting or technical work, but the community itself in Monroe. One of the chief ways that we are able to accomplish this goal is reaching out to schools across north Louisiana and south Arkansas . Our venue provides performance times that are appropriate for school field trips. Through early notification of schools, many teachers are able to plan ahead and not only schedule the trip, but incorporate the upcoming event into their classroom instructional time. Many times Young Troupe will offer study guides to accompany upcoming performances.

Each year, The Young Troupe of Strauss Theatre incorporates classic literature as well as Shakespeare into its seasonal offerings. We make an effort to address all age groups throughout the course of our season with acting or technical work. In addition to regular school performances, we also offer programs like "A Day of Theatre" where classes can learn about the Theatre from the inside out and "Informances" where groups may meet with the cast and technical crew and learn about the play as well as try out their performance skills prior to actually seeing the play.
