Woodmere Art Museum in Philadelphia, is housed in a 19th century stone Victorian mansion in the historic Chestnut Hill, bequeathed by a generous benefactor, Charles Knox Smith, whose desire was that the appreciation and knowledge of art in people of all ages be awakened through the museum. And to this end the mission of Woodmere Art Museum has been to inspire creativity, learning and self-expression through the arts. Visitors to the museum will appreciate our collections of more than 3000 works of art, exhibitions, classes, lectures and programs suitable for all ages. Woodmere Art Museum has nine galleries and salons, which all provide space for outstanding art training and displays. The Children's Garden is a recent addition and has outdoor space to display, and at the same time enjoy, the art works. Visit the Museum Store with its abundant selection of items, such as distinctive jewelry, functional ceramics and textiles, all created by local artists.
