They also strive to involve the community and provide a greater awareness and understanding of natural resources through education, programmed events and experiences in the nature preserve. Come experience the various habitats including dune and swale forest, there's cattail marsh and shrub swamp and even native grasslands, enjoy the returning birds in summer, the butterfly garden, little wings play area and more and in winter there's snowshoeing and skiing. The Woodland Dunes Nature Center and Preserve hosts many wonderful events, and there are summer camps, they also have a Nature Shop filled with environmental education books, a selection of children's toys and finger puppets, sweats, tees, mugs and hats with the Woodland Dunes Logo and owls and more, come for a fascinating visit.
