Watta Lake Lodge

Watta Lake Lodge in Yellowknife, North Slave, Canada | Lodge | Lodgings

Located in the rugged unspoiled beauty of Canada's last wilderness, Watta Lake Lodge is truly a little paradise in Yellowknife, North Slave in Canada. Fisherman, naturalists, photographers, rock hounds, seekers of R&R, come one come all!!!

Watta Lake Lodge is only accessible by float plane - you'll find the only thing more amazing than the fishing and the scenery is the hospitality of Yellowknife, North Slave county residence. Wildlife, fishing, midnight sun, or northern lights, one thing is for certain, expect the unexpected...

Your hosts are Robin and Trevor Wotherspoon. We are 2nd and 3rd generation family to operate the Lodge. The tradition of warm hospitality & home cooked meals was set by 'Mom/Gram' Yvonne Quick, and after 20 years we are all proud to welcome you to an adventure of relaxation and comfort, fun, fishing and new found friends!

Our main Lodge houses the kitchen, dining area, and lounge. It has been recently renovated and offers a warm, relaxing atmosphere for your leisure hours. A large deck provides fresh air and comfort to view the lake, listen to the lonely cry of the loon, and experience the uniqueness of the midnight sun. Later in the season, the magical and mysterious Northern Lights provide a natural movie.

Our food is good, wholesome home-cooking, and lots of it. "Shorelunch" is an order of the day as our experienced guides cook up a heaping helping of outdoor cooking to whet your appetite.

Our six rooms are double and triple occupancy. They are spacious, carpeted and each has it's own private bathroom complete with sink, water closet, and shower. Hot and cold water provide a "little comfort" with your wilderness experience. Electricity is provided by a diesel generator. A mobile radio and satelite phone provide communication with reality (although we try to avoid it).

Our season is approximately June 5th to September 15. Fish for Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Arctic Grayling and Whitefish. See the wildlife; black bears, moose, wolves, beavers, fox, martins, otters. Over 50 varieties of songbirds and birds of prey; bald eagles, loons, osprey, whiskey jacks, etc.. Celebrate the summer solstice 'Midnight Sun' and later in August, marvel at the magic and mystery of the Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis.

So grab your tackle and camera & welcome to the land where memories and daylight are endless...
