Valley Zoo

Valley Zoo in Edmonton, Edmonton Capital Region, Canada | Zoo

The Valley Zoo is one of Edmonton's premier attractions, offering fun and education for the whole family.

The Valley Zoo has a strong conservation focus, which is evident in our exhibits and educational programs.

Come to the Valley Zoo to observe, to learn and to make friends as you experience first-hand the variety of wild creatures that call our planet home.

For your safety and the safety of the animals that call the Valley Zoo home, pets, bicycles, roller blades, scooters and skateboards are not allowed inside the Zoo gates.

The earth is home to nine or ten million magnificent species of animals (including humans!), living everywhere from caves and mountain-tops to the depths of the ocean.

The Valley Zoo in Edmonton, Canada, is home to a collection of wonderful animals representing a range of climates and habitats,  all for you to discover, learn about and appreciate.   Many wild animal species are quickly becoming extinct. We must act now. Zoos share a responsibility in this issue.

The Valley Zoo takes an active role in the global issue of species conservation by participating in the Species Survival Plan.

The Species Survival Plan organized by Zoos in 1981, consists of co-operative, coordinated breeding programs for captive endangered species throughout the world. The American Zoo and Aquarium Association administers the plan.

Species Survival Plans are not a substitute for preserving animals in nature but are a strategy for creating healthy, self-sustaining, captive populations that can be reintroduced into restored or secured habitats. The ultimate goal of the plan is to release healthy animals into the wild.
