Welcome to the Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta. We are the oldest and most diverse faculty on campus. As one of the largest research and teaching centres in western Canada, we are practically a University within a University.

The Faculty of Arts houses 14 departments, numerous interdisciplinary programs and institutes, and more than 350 full-time faculty members. With approximately 6100 students, we account for more than one-fifth of the University's total undergraduate program registrations. What's more, approximately 41% of all students enrolled in Arts courses are from other faculties at the University.

Several of our departments are ranked indisputably among the finest in Canada. These include Drama--the most sought-after theatre school in the country--as well as English, Linguistics, Art & Design, and Political Science. Our specialized research
