The nearby Mohegan Church founded in 1831 through land donated serves as the Mohegan tribe's school, house of worshio, political centre and ceremonial hub, it is open to the public. The Tantaquidgeon Museum offers tours by the Mohegan tribe members and is a fascinating place to visit for viewing of Native American artifacts, admission is free.
