Madeline and Sean Brown welcome you to Stronechrubie High Country Cuisine & Chalets. Nestled in the township of Mt Somers, one hour's drive from Christchurch, we are located near Mt Hutt ski field and Mt Sunday, the location of Edoras in 'Lord of the Rings'.
At Stronechrubie High Country Cuisine & Chalets we have 8 chalets set on 3 acres of landscaped grounds offering a private and peaceful stay. We can also accommodate weddings, functions and team retreats. We can tailor packages to suit your occasion and requirements and are more than happy to arrange local tours and activities.
Sean, your host and award-winning Chef de Cuisine, has designed a menu to showcase the best of what New Zealand has to offer. Locally sourced lamb, beef and venison are just some of the delights to be had, and Sean is the recipient of a 2007 New Zealand Hallmark of Excellent Beef & Lamb Award.
The restaurant comfortably seats 24, with outside seating for those wanting to dine al fresco. With the restaurant on site, we can also offer group accommodation and catering packages for weddings, social and business groups.
Our restaurant is fully licensed and we stock a range of New Zealand wines, many from the Canterbury region, as well as beers and spirits.
Special dietary requirements can also be catered for with 48 hours notice at Stronechrubie High Country Cuisine & Chalets.
