Porthcawl Museum is located in the Old Police Station, which was used as a working police station from 1877 to its closure in 1974. This listed building still has the original charge room which now houses the Porthcawl Tourist Information Centre.

The Porthcawl Museum contains an exhibition of the Welsh Guards featuring memorabilia of the Guards from its formation in 1915 to the present day, including uniforms, regalia, arms, regimental records and much more. The Museum also features a fascinating collection of artifacts, costumes and memorabilia charting the social and maritime history of the Porthcawl area as well as a collection of war mementoes. The wartime records of the 49th Reconnaissance Regiment, which was formed here in 1942, are also on display. The Porthcawl Museum, United Kingdom, also contains records of the history of the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist founded in 1189.

The Porthcawl Art Society provides displays of the works of local artists on the first floor.
