Welcome to the Mulford Barm, East Hampton, New York, United States. The Mulford Barn, constructed in 1721, is one of the most intact early eighteenth century English-plan barn forms in New York State and is recognized as an outstanding example of early eighteenth century construction methods and materials.
The location of the barn also provides insight into the history of settlement patterns in this, East Hampton region of New York. The Mulford Barn was evaluated by the State Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation in 1990 and deemed the second most important eighteenth century barn in New York State.
Preservation engineers analyzed the barn's braced post and beam timber frame and the effects of alterations made to the original framing system and recommended the installation of temporary bracing in order to prevent further stresses or deterioration during construction. The framing system, studs and sheathing boards were repaired and sills were replaced where necessary.

Every effort was made to preserve the original fabric. Where replacements were necessary, scarf joints and other intricate joinery techniques were employed to replace materials.
New reproduction 18th century Atlantic White cedar shingles were applied to the roof and as funding permitted, the sidewalls. The barn still suffers structural deficiencies and is need of ongoing restoration.
