Hashmura Restaurant

Hashmura Restaurant in Haifa, Haifa Bay, Israel | Restaurant

Hashmura Restaurant, Haifa - Occupying a restored German Colony mansion built in 1872 (hence the date in the name) this Restaurant offers charm, and good, hearty French-style meals that arrive at your table in generous portions. The house has been beautifully restored and turned into a Restaurant with beamed ceilings, whitewashed walls, and dark, polished wooden floors and furnishings; there are four smaller, intimate dining areas on the ground floor, and upstairs, a spacious room often used for parties.
The menu changes both daily and seasonally: Very early in summer, you might find a creamy pate de foie gras served with tart, diced early figs or apricots. Appetizers include shrimp, either grilled or steamed in garlic butter, and a house puff pastry with goat cheese and pesto sauce. You'll find main courses of pasta, fish, and seafood, but the pride of the menu is the meat. Choose from lamb ribs with baked potatoes in a heavy, rich lamb stock; beef filet Rossini topped with melt-in-your-mouth gooseliver and portobello mushroom, served with creamy potato rissoles; or breast of mullard in cardamom sauce. Dishes are substantial but artistically presented, and come with salad, potato, and vegetable. In addition to the standard classics, you'll often find something inventive on the dessert list.
