Fredriksten Fortress is a Historical site on a hilltop above Halden, Norway, the scene and place of some of the most dramatic and bloody events in Norwegian war history, most notably the fall of Swedish King Karl XII in 1718. This national border guard and regional cultural arena is open day and night, and is free to enter, there is a large parking area here for visitors, the Fredriksten information centre is in the inner Fortress, and here they offer information about the Fortress, Halden and the surrounding area.
