Fort Calgary in Calgary, Western Canada, Canada, is operated by the Fort Calgary Preservation Society. The Society?s mandate is to preserve, utilize, develop, interpret and promote Fort Calgary for the benefit of the citizens and visitors to the City of Calgary in Western Canada.
The Society is governed by a Board consisting of members from the community and one member representing the City of Calgary. Although the City of Calgary owns all of Fort Calgary?s assets, Fort Calgary is operated as an autonomous body, separate from the City of Calgary, Western Canada.
The goals of Fort Calgary are to create a "sense of place/home" for all Calgarians, to achieve cultural, financial and environmental sustainability.
To built a deeper understanding of Calgary, Past, Present and Future.
To play a role in the debate surrounding Calgary, Western Canada, facilitating and contributing to the debate.
To become a leader in the changing role of Museums.
The staff at Fort Calgary are employed by the Fort Calgary Preservation Society.
