The Elephant Sanctuary in The Craggs, Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, provides a safe-haven for six African elephants and offers guests interactive elephant experiences. We specialize in up close and personal educational tours. The Elephant Sanctuary's focus is on interaction, so our guests do not only learn a lot about elephants, they also get to touch, feel, feed, walk trunk-in-hand and even ride these magnificent animals.

Meet the elephants on our one hour Trunk-in-Hand program, go for an Elephant Back Ride - a privilege historically reserved for kings! - join us for an early morning Elephant Brushdown or enjoy a glass of wine while watching the elephants settling down for the night on the Sundowner Programme.

All our elephants are rescued African elephants and we have gained their trust through our unique reward based training. We believe in forming bonds between humans and elephants and all our elephants are exercised and stimulated daily which provides a firm foundation for trust.

We are a family orientated operation catering for the young and old.
