Big game Fishing is practised throughout the year in Mauritius although the best season for marlin is from October to April. Besides black and blue marlins, anglers also catch
Tuna: Shoals of Yellow-fin tuna move in to Mauritian waters in March and April.( 140 to 200 lbs)
Wahoo: Prolific runs of Wahoo start in September. Reputed to be the fastest running fish in the sea.
Sailfish: Literally flies through the air when hooked, in an aerial display of fury. (Around 100 lbs)
Bonito: A smaller species of tuna( Skipjack tuna).
Shark: Expect Blue, Hammer-head, Mako, Tiger, Black fin and White fin.
There are few categories of boats: 60-foot,50-foot,47-foot,45-foot and 42-foot. All boats are fully equipped with Penn International reels (30, 50, 80, and 130 lbs line test), Fenwick rods, life jackets, VHF ship-to-shore radios, 1 skipper and 2 crews, basic First Aid boxes, fresh water showers and toilets, sun deck with canopy & gallery.
Soft drink, a few beers and bottled water are available on board free of charge. You and your companions are responsible for your own lunches and any other foodstuffs or beverages you may desire to bring on board.
