Darss Museum in Prerow, Nordvorpommern, Germany | Museum
Darss-Museum in the Baltic Sea resort Prerow. The Darss Museum was founded in 1953 and is the heritage Museum for the Prerow Fischland - Darss- Zingst Peninsula. The geological formations thrown up during the post Ice Age development of the peninsula and the divisions between the Bodden waters all tell a story.
Important finds from digs carry information about the prehistoric and early settlement of the area. The vegetation charts, numerous plants, illustrations and selected exhibits give visitors a good reference to the flora and fauna of the peninsula. The fishery section at the Darss-Museum and especially the history of the Darss sailing ships are full of information about the local people. There are also many heritage exhibits, navigational instruments, ship’s journals, old seafaring books and much more, all given to the Darss-Museum by old seafaring people.
A visit to this carefully kept exhibition in the Darss-Museum is worthwhile at any time of the year.
