In 1995, Chase Breiner, a retired Vice President of Merrill Lynch, stumbled upon this property, in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, United States, then a run-down motel called the Coronado Dunes, while looking to buy a used canoe.
He saw the potential for a fun place where people could eat, drink, relax and play and so began Chases on the Beach Restaurant.

Though Chase passed away in 2005, his family still runs Chases in the spirit of "fun on the beach." Oh, and we still have the canoe
