Cattle Baron - Hermanus

Cattle Baron - Hermanus in Hermanus, Walker Bay, South Africa | Restaurant

The Emergence of the Cattle Barons
During the American Civil War (while the farmers were away fighting), a new breed of entrepreneur was born, the Cattle Barons. These immensely rich and powerful men, along with their cowboys moved millions of unattended Texan cattle vast distances (under adverse conditions) across the Kansas plains to Railheads for transport to market centres. This helped generate income which stabilised the war-torn Texan economy.
Situated near the Old Harbour, the Hermanus Cattle Baron offers a plush environment with a design favouring a more private dining experience. The outside deck gives views of Walker Bay, which is famous for being the best land-based whale watching site in the world. What better way to enjoy lunch or early evening drinks with Southern Right whales close to the rocks of the Old Harbour.
