Welcome to the C & E Railway Station Museum in Edmonton, Canada.

Children will enjoy learning about living in the 1890's through a guided tour of the Museum.  Tours can be adapted to the needs of the students and can focus on specific topics such as technology, the development of the Edmonton area, and the impact of the railway.

Built by the C & E Railway company along standard plans used by the parent company CPR, this is one of 11 such stations built on the prairies; several of which are along the C& E Railway line. The two story station house contained both a public section and a private section which contained the station master's quarters. The public section was made up of a ladies waiting room, the station master's office and a combination express room/waiting room. The large rectangular freight shed with a shed roof, was attached to the station along the platform. The station master's quarters continued upstairs under the hipped gable roof and contained 3 small bedrooms and a small kitchen attached at the rear. Both buildings were heated with wood stoves.

The C & E Railway Station Museum has collected a large number of railway artifacts to help visitors learn about how the station operated.  Period furnishings, clothing, photographs and nineteenth century train station souvenirs will surround you as you wander through the station.  Visitors to C & E Railway Station Museum have opportunities to examine these artifacts closely and even experience the thrill of sending and receiving a telegram thanks to the assistance of volunteer members of the Edmonton Morse Telegraph Club.
