Burg Zug Castle is a landmark of the city and the oldest building in Zug. Burg Zug was first the medieval seat of the former government, and later representative of substantial Wohnhaus Zuger families. Since 1982 it houses the cultural-Historical Museum of the Canton Zug.

Part of the collection of Historical and cultural Zug and Canton is permanently on display. Regular special exhibitions and events are hosted in the Castle. The Historic rooms, the "Ritterstube" for children, a cafeteria and, in warmer seasons, even the courtyard invite you to stay. The Castle also offers a beautiful view over the Old Town and the lake.

The Castle Burg Zug, formely was the medieval seat of the former government and their representatives, of Lenzburg, Kyburg and Hapsburg, then joined the Confederation in 1352, thereafter became privately owned and has served in the following centuries significant Zuger Families as a representative resident.

Since the costly restoration from 1979 to 1982 the Castle serves as a cultural-Historical Museum of the city, Zug. In 2005, under the theme "Rethinking the Museum" a restructuring process started in order to put even more attractive, interesting and visitor-friendly exhibitions and events on display at the Castle.

Aspects of the collection - A journey from the Middle Ages to the present. From the weir to the Castle housing the Museum. Highlights of the regional culture from different centuries: staged Historical residential spaces to linger, the drug store, and from the roof view one of the most beautiful views over the Old Town Zug. Throughout the day, the courtyard provides a welcome resting place for refreshments from the cafeteria.
