Welcome to the Beacon Museum, Whitehaven, United Kingdom. The Beacon Museum was purpose-built with access for all in mind.

All 5 floors of the Beacon Museum are accessible to wheelchair users and our exhibitions are user-friendly for all ages and abilities.

There is an induction loop system at Reception, all audio presentations and Activity Room, Wheelchair accessible toilets, Subtitled video presentations, Tactile directional signage, Transcripts of audios and oral history presentations,

Staff guide to accompany visitors with visual or hearing impairments and Large print information.

The Beacon Museum holds a collection of over 5000 Whitehaven and Copeland photographs from yesteryear. Black and white reproductions from the negative collection can be ordered at Reception.

Come with plenty of time to spare, and maybe a magnifying glass!

Enjoy pouring over the contact prints and choose your favourites.

The photographs are a fantastic idea for a present and most images are available within 10 working days.

We welcome applications from professional artists to exhibit in the Harbour Gallery of The Beacon Museum. The programme is arranged up to 18 months in advance so please give us plenty of warning if you wish to apply.
